Ash Wednesday

Nel momento della mia confessione, nel momento del mio più profondo bisogno
Quando la pozza di lacrime sotto i miei piedi si allaga con ogni neonato seme
C'è una voce in agonia dentro di me che cerca qualcosa da qualche parte,
lavorando duramente nel pericolo e nella morale della disperazione.

Non ho l'inclinazione a guardare indietro ad ogni sbaglio,
come Caino, adesso scorgo questa catena di eventi che devo spezzare.
Nella furia del momento, riesco a vedere la mano del Signore
In ogni foglia che trema, in ogni granello di sabbia. 

Oh, i fiori dell'indulgenza e l'erbaccia degli anni passati,
come criminali, hanno soffocato il respiro della coscienza e del buon conforto.
Il sole batte sui passi del tempo per illuminare la strada
Per affievolire il dolore dell'ozio e la memoria del declino.

Fisso attraverso l'entrata di affamate fiamme tentatrici
Ed ogni volta che passo da questa parte sento sempre il mio nome.
Poi avanti nel mio viaggio riesco a capire

Vivo in comunita' con persone disabili e ieri mi ha telefonato un amico prete.Mi racconta di Mark che e' cerebroleseo, con capacita' fisiche e mentali molto compromesse, e non ha piu' nessuno da quando anche la mamma e' morta.
*Ho chiesto a vari istituti per disabili -mi dice- ma nessuno lo prende. Se non lo prendi nella tua comunita', certamente morira'*.
Mark assomiglia curiosamente a Gesu'.
Rifiutato ed abbandonato come lui, Mark chiama all'amoree questo mio amico prete che, sinceramente, mi pare volgia liberarsene.
Chiama all'amore anche me, anche noi.
Gesu' non chiama piu' venendoci a trovare di persona nelle nostre occupazioni quotidiane.
O meglio,viene a trovarci nella persona dei poveri e dei bisognosi.
Davanti a persone come Mark, scopro che la vera disabilita' e' nel mio cuore incapace di riconoscere il mio Signore nel povero ed ascoltare la voce lieve della sua chiamata.
*Seguimi*, dice il Signore. Sapro' ascoltarlo?
